War and Peace in the Ridings

A new exhibition on the history of peace campaigning in Yorkshire has been created by the Peace Museum.  Colourful and thought-provoking, the display is ideal for use by schools and community groups.  Starting with resistance to the Roman and Norman invasions, the display includes Quakers,  battlefields and war memorials,  19th century peace societies, conscientious objectors in 1916, women’s crusades during World War I, , the Labour movement, anti-nuclear work by local councils, and lots more.  Nice to see a mention of J.B. Priestley’s role in founding CND!

Find out more and preview each panel of the display.
